Our Process
A structured, transparent engineering process — from initial power requirement through to repeat production supply.
Britcell is not a components distributor or a contract assembly house. We engage with a project at the engineering level and stay involved through production. The stages below describe how a typical project progresses — timescales and detail at each stage depend on complexity.
Initial Enquiry & Scoping
We review your enquiry, ask relevant technical questions and provide an honest assessment of scope and feasibility. If the project is a good fit, we agree a scoping call or meeting.
Honest assessment, scope outline, indicative timeline and cost range.
Application description, voltage and capacity (even approximate), volume estimate, any existing documentation.
Requirements Definition
We formalise the technical specification — operating voltage, peak discharge current, capacity, temperature range, form factor, connector requirements, cycle life target and compliance scope.
Agreed technical specification document and cell selection candidates with rationale — why each cell was considered and which is recommended for your application.
Design
Electrical schematic, wiring design, BMS selection and specification, mechanical envelope drawing, connector and cable specification. Design review with you before prototyping.
Electrical schematic, bill of materials with cell datasheet reference, BMS configuration notes and mechanical outline drawing — all reviewed and approved before build begins.
Prototype Build
Materials procurement, professional pack assembly at our Hampshire facility, BMS commissioning, electrical verification and capacity test.
Working prototype(s), build record, test data and datasheet package.
1–5 units for initial validation. Agreed at scoping.
Validation & Design Review
You test the prototype in your application. Feedback is incorporated and any design changes are documented and reviewed before production sign-off.
Revised design (if required), updated bill of materials and confirmation of design freeze — the agreed baseline for production.
Production
Cell procurement from approved sources, batch assembly, BMS commissioning, batch inspection, quality records and despatch.
Production packs, batch quality records and cell lot references. Production schedules, batch sizes and delivery terms are agreed before the production order is placed.
Ongoing Support
The relationship does not end at delivery. Britcell supports design revisions, compliance updates, second-source cell evaluation and production schedule management throughout the product lifecycle. You have a direct line to the technical team.
What we need from you
You do not need a complete specification before making an enquiry. A short description of your application and an approximate requirement is enough to start a conversation.
- Application description and purpose
- Voltage and capacity requirement (even approximate)
- Physical form factor constraints
- Quantity estimate — prototype and production
- Target delivery timescale
- Any existing design documentation or samples
